KYCC’s Treehouse Youth Center is a safe haven that provides a wide array of services such as academic assistance, career exploration, computer training, and leadership opportunities. Youth can partake in a multicultural leadership council, community service learning projects, field trips, cultural celebrations, college prep courses, and gender–specific programs, all the while developing their teambuilding skills and personal character. The Treehouse Youth Center challenges young people to explore new opportunities and experiences, and KYCC is currently recruiting high school and college students for its Tutoring Education & Mentoring Program (TEAM). TEAM participants will be trained to assist children, grades K-12, with their homework and lead other educational and innovative sessions. Volunteers will receive community service learning hours for school and/or probation. KYCC’s youth development programs empower teens to be leaders and advocates for critical issues in their community. Programs offered are student-led and provide invaluable experience in the areas of administration, operations, public relations, and advocacy. Please direct all inquiries to Betty Fong at (213) 365-7400, ext. 146 or e-mail bfong@kyccla.org.

Getting To The Green

More than 130 golfers took to the gorgeous green of Irvine’s premiere Strawberry Farms Golf Club on April 25 as part of the KYCC’s “FORE Children & Families” golf classic.  With the generous support of patrons and donors, such as title sponsor Jamison Services, Inc., KYCC raised over $63,000 for its early child education, after-school, youth development, mental health, community economic development and environmental service programs. Friendly competition in the spirit of charity made for a win-win situation for the youth and families of Koreatown, and the foursome led by Park & Velayos LLP swung their way to first place. KYCC’s programs for children, youth, and families rely on the support of community members like these.  Thank you to all our participants and supporters for making the golf classic a successful event!
