On Feb. 16, KRC and the Korean American Cultural Troupe HanNuRi celebrated Lunar
New Year with a uniquely Korean American cultural event called JiShinBalpGi ("Stepping
on the spirit of the earth"), during which they visited places in Koreatown to wish
community members a prosperous new year. HanNuRi also performed at the Japanese
American National Museum in honor of the Day of Remembrance.

In Chicago, KRCC's Korean cultural troupe Il Kwa Nori performed at Columbia College's
Conway Center for 100 students and faculty members who enjoyed the Korean drumming
while tasting Asian food. Meanwhile, YKASEC led the JiShinBalpGi festival in the streets
of New York's Koreatown with poongmul troupes Binari and NYURI, chasing away bad
fortune and spreading best wishes for the new year.

Immigration And Heath Care Reform Summits
Representatives from NAKASEC and their affiliates were in Washington, D.C., in
February to participate in a series of summits focused on immigration and health care
reform: the Fair Immigration Reform Movement Summit (FIRM), United We DREAM
Summit, and the Health Rights Organizing Project (HROP) meeting. On Feb. 12, HROP
and FIRM held a press conference where Ju Yeon Ryu, a parent organizer at KRC, spoke
about the need for children's health care.
