On Feb. 13, in conjunction with its Lunar New Year celebration, KACF and more than 150
of its supporters gathered to announce its roster of 2008 grantee organizations.
Executive director Bomsinae Kim commented, "The support of the Korean American
community and the greater philanthropic community of New York City has driven KACF's
success year after year and has again allowed KACF to surpass its previous funding record
and grow its grantees to a record 13 organizations." James Cho, KACF's grant-making
chair, announced that KACF has donated more than $610,000 over the last five years and
will support 13 grantee organizations with a total of $210,000 in 2008. Each organization
will be awarded up to $24,000 annually.
Several high-ranking Korean public officials spoke at the event including Deputy Consul
General Kie Chun Lee and Korean Consulate of New York and New York City
Councilman John Liu, who helped KACF receive a discretionary award from the
department of youth and community development in the amount of $5,000. Liu
commented, "I cannot believe KACF is now directly helping 13 organizations in greater
New York City today. In a short time, the KACF gala has become a big event, and it is a
sign of the Korean American community's growth and its impact in addressing serious
issues concerning senior citizens, disadvantaged youths, victims of domestic violence and
new immigrants." Pauline Yu, community liaison for Mayor Bloomberg also presented
KACF with a "mayoral citation" praising KACF's work to "unite the community under the
promise of a brighter future ... and make New York City, the greatest city in the world,
even better to work and live [in]."

The event was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York City
and the event's generous sponsors were 3Lab and A&O Healthcare Group. Here is a list of
