A February flood at Hines Ward’s sports bar, The Locker Room Bar & Grille, has proven to be more than a bad omen.
The Pittsburgh joint found itself in deeper turmoil on Sept. 10 as Ward and co-owner Kimberly Pitts were named in a civil lawsuit alleging that they participated in the siphoning of approximately $1.5 million from the business.
According to the Associated Press, former manager and co-owner Nicholas Lettieri is suing Pitts and Ward for failing to deposit cash receipts totaling close to $1 million. Lettieri also alleges that Ward pocketed $500,000 in insurance claims awarded from the February flooding accident.
The Steelers’ wide receiver seemed unfazed by the battle. “My attorneys, my accountants are all handling that,” Ward told the AP. “They’re allegations. My job is really the publicity of the bar. I don’t write checks, I don’t even get involved with the money and the accountants and stuff like that.”
