FOR K.J. Choi, it’s been a banner year, one he will no doubt look back on fondly. The 28-year-old golfer finished the PGA season in fifth place overall, highlighted by victories at the Memorial Tournament on June 3 and the AT&T Championship on July 8. The feat also allowed him to join an elite group of fellow golfers — Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson — who were the only players to also post multiple victories during the season.
The achievements propelled Choi into the eighth spot overall in the Official World Golf Rankings and enabled him to qualify for the Fed Ex Cup, the first-ever PGA playoff series. There, his best finish was second place in the first leg of series at The Barclays on Aug 26. Although he had modest finishes at the Deutsche Bank Championship (38) and the Tour Championship (21) and was forced to pull out of the BMW Championship, his overall play was strong enough to place him in fifth overall in the Fed Ex Cup standings.
