The KACF 2007 gala dinner is only days away. A number of local dignitaries and luminaries are scheduled to attend, including New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who will address the evening’s guests, and Bill Rhodes, senior vice chairman of Citi, who is serving as the honorary gala chair. Suchin Pak of MTV News and Michael Kim of ESPN will serve as the evening’s emcees.

KACF will hold its second annual benefit gala dinner at the beautiful Grand Hyatt hotel in midtown Manhattan on Oct. 17. Jeannie Park, executive editor of People magazine, will be the keynote speaker. Park has been a longtime supporter of KACF. In an interview, she explained her reasons for supporting KACF. She said she was impressed by the professionalism and determination of KACF’s organizers and the impact KACF has made in such a short period of time within the community.

KACF, a nonprofit group based in New York, raises funds to support local social service organizations, including those that serve the needs of disadvantaged Korean and Asian Americans. The gala dinner is KACF’s main fundraising event of the year.

KACF has also launched a state-of-the-art silent auction Web site where individuals can view auction items before the dinner. In addition, individuals who are unable to attend the gala may still bid online through an absentee bidding program. There are numerous items up for bid, including a 52-inch Samsung LCD TV, flying lessons for two in Las Vegas and a personal backstage tour of ABC’s “Good Morning America” with KACF board member Juju Chang.

For more information about the auction, visit  www.kacf.cmarket.com and for information about the dinner, visit www.kacfny.org/gala2007.
