KAFSC is committed to providing the community with linguistically and culturally appropriate services for the purpose of eliminating family dysfunction and enhancing the quality of life for Korean immigrant families. We value your support and appreciate your vote of confidence in the work we carry out daily at KAFSC.
Knowledge Is Power
KAFSC is resuming its eighth year of the Readiness for School program. The program provides direct services to Korean American children and their monolingual immigrant parents from low-income families in the greater Los Angeles area. The main goal of the Readiness for School program is for Korean American children and their parents to have a successful transition into the public school system. The program acts as an important tool for empowering and strengthening Korean child care centers, Korean American children and their parents.
Through various activities of the Readiness for School program, children will experience less anxiety and have less fear about entering school as they are exposed to diverse cultural experiences, safety classes, school visits and resourceful workshops. Parents will also benefit from this program by learning about the importance of their participation in the school enrollment process and various school activities. As a result, well-prepared children become more successful during their school years and their parents become more involved with school events.
