The 15th annual conference of the International Association of Korean Lawyers was held at the Konkuk University College of Law in Seoul, Korea, Oct. 11 through 14. More than 150 attorneys of Korean descent attended the conference from all over the world, including Japan, New Zealand, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, China and the United States. Many current and former KABA presidents, board members and general members attended, including current president Lisa Yang, past presidents Ekwan Rhow, John Lim and Jay Chung, board member Young Kim and members Stephanie Bang, Ann H. Park, Richard Ruger, Peter Rho and Sam Oh.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Kim presented on the criminal jury trial system in the United States, and many other distinguished panelists spoke on a wide range of legal issues. In particular, KABA’s community service activities were prominently featured in a panel on pro bono opportunities. In addition to the panels, the conference program was filled with opportunities to network with the other attorneys and to enjoy the beautiful fall weather in Seoul. The participants attended a dinner cruise on the Han River, a hike up Namsan and the critically-acclaimed performance of NANTA. Next year’s conference will be held in Philadelphia, with dates to be announced. For more information regarding the International Association of Korean Lawyers, visit www.iakl.net.
