The Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation diversity dinner was held on March 30 at Jumbo Restaurant in south Seattle.
Spring is here. Living in Seattle, spring is always a questionable season, considering the showers and windstorms. However, KAPS and our community members never fail to have a good time at our social events. On March 8, we had our social on the east side at Joey’s. Our April event also took place on the east side at YAMA Asian Fusion Japanese Cuisine. For more information on all upcoming events, please e-mail

Tee Time
The dates are out. This month, KABA and KAHPA board members and the KAPS golf chair committee spent numerous hours planning the annual golf tournament. The 7th annual golf tournament will be held on June 2 at 1:30 p.m. at Trilogy Golf Course in Redmond Ridge, Wash. Over the past few years, all proceeds from the tournament have supported KCCC, a nonprofit organization that provides community and social services for the local Korean and Korean American communities. Registration forms can be found at www.seattlekaps.org. For more information on the event and sponsorships, e-mail

Members of the Korean American Coalition and KAPS gather together at the Wing Luke Asian Museum auction dinner on March 18 at the Convention Center in Seattle. More than 800 people were in attendance.

Helping Hands
Although KAPS specializes in Korean American community involvement, we value participation with all our other Asian American communities in the Washington area. Several board members and guests attended the diversity dinner, hosted by the Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation. We were extremely impressed with the Seattle community’s diversity as well as the public’s involvement with younger generations. As mentors, we were enlightened to see the minority population excelling in their schools as well as in their extracurricular activities. The achievement of students encourages KAPS to promote more student-leader mentorship programs. We want Korean American students to be leaders and role models within their communities.
