Dr. Chang trains volunteers to help the community through phone counseling.

Estate Planning, Living Trust, and Tax Reduction Seminar

We’ve successfully completed our Estate Planning, Living Trust, and Tax Reduction Seminar. The seminar was presented by Grace I. Kim, Attorney at Law and Sung Hee Kim, CFO, ChFc, CLU, QPA.  More than 50 people attended this seminar and felt that it was of great benefit in their financial and planning. 

 

TalkLine (Telephone Counseling Seminar)

KAFSC talk line seminar is currently training volunteers to help people through phone counseling.  The seminar provides vital training for the volunteers who wants to help those in need in the community and each successful participant will receive a certificate of completion.

 

Parenting Seminars by KAFSCLA Staff and Guests

$30 per class

Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.     

March 1— Korean and American Cultural Differences:  Understanding the difference between Korean and American culture will enable you to build stronger relations with your children. 

March 8 — Developmental Theory: How kids grow and interact with their environment, how you can assist in their positive development.  

March 15 — Communication Skills: Strengthen your communication competency and break communication barriers with your kids.  The seminar will allow you to establish great communication skills as you learn there’s more to language than just words.

March 22 — Disciplining your Children Appropriately: Understand how to discipline your child in everyday and acute situations and learn effective techniques.

Sponsored by Readiness for School Program:     

March 29 — Parent Literacy/ Improve your English: English is not an easy language to learn, but practice makes perfect. Don’t allow language barriers prevent you from understanding what’s going on in your community or with your children. This seminar will allow you to improve your English and become more comfortable with the language. No fee, sponsored by Readiness for School Program.

Board Member Luncheon

Board members, staff, and volunteers gathered together for a new year’s greeting luncheon. We excitedly welcomed our new chairman and shared our vision for the coming year.

 

 

Home Provider’s Training

KAFSC is looking for home childcare providers. Our Nutrition Homes Program sponsors, advises, trains and monitors 80 in-home childcare providers to ensure that the 10,000 children enrolled in these homes receive varied and nutritious meals. The program also provides partial reimbursement for the cost of food for the childcare providers.  If you are interested in being a part of the program, you can contact our Nutrition Homes Program representative, Jina Byun at 213) 389-6755 ext. 109 or e-mail her at jbyun@kafsc.org.
