OPENING   LOS ANGELES

Docurama Films is proud to present the U.S. theatrical release of “Air Guitar Nation,” a film by Alexandra Lipsitz. A battle of naked ambition played out on the national and, ultimately, world stage, “Air Guitar Nation” chronicles the birth of the U.S. Air Guitar Championships as legions of aspiring rock stars live out their dreams on a quest to become the world champion in a strange world where musical ability plays second fiddle to virtual virtuosity. Two aspiring rock legends strum and strut their way toward glory and the coveted national title.

While C. Diddy (Korean American David Jung) threatens to unleash his self-professed “Asian Fury’’ on his competitors, Björn Türoque vows to take Diddy down. Full of triumph and disappointment, patriotic spirit and political tension — and, of course, invisible guitars — “Air Guitar Nation” takes audiences on an inspiring, exhilarating and ultimately hilarious journey that delves deep to find out what it truly takes to become the best in the world and find the inner meaning of the chant, “Make Air, Not War.”

“Air Guitar Nation” opens in Los Angeles on March 30 at the Landmark Nuart Theater, located at 11272 Santa Monica Boulevard.

East West Players continues its exciting 41st anniversary season with “I Land,” a solo performance written and performed by Keo Woolford and directed by Roberta Uno. “I Land” weaves together traditional Hawaiian hula, hip-hop, Hawaiian talk story and spoken word. In this semi-autobiographical journey, actor and hula dancer Keo Woolford navigates the many worlds where hula lives, from backyard parties, to Hollywood kitsch, to the realm of the sacred.

All performances will be held in the David Henry Hwang Theater at the Union Center for the Arts, located in Little Tokyo at 120 Judge John Aiso St., Los Angeles. “I Land” opens on March 21 and closes on April 8. General ticket prices are $35 in the orchestra and $30 in the balcony. Preview tickets are $20 for all seats. Opening night tickets are $60 for all seats. Call East West Players at (213) 625-7000 or visit www.eastwestplayers.org for more information.
