On June 14, KYCC will host its 6th annual benefit concert “Believe in the Power of Music” at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The event, celebrating the organization’s 32 years of dedicated service to the Koreatown community and to Korean Americans throughout Los Angeles, will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. This year’s event, in collaboration with the Korean American Music Foundation, is shaping up to be the most incredible yet. Soloists Julius-Jeongwon Kim, Yumi Man and Mi-Hae Park will be flying in from around the globe to perform under music director John Bae. Soprano Kyung Chy will attend to perform the world premiere of Ian Krouses’s “Cho-hon (Invocation).”

Additionally, a group of KYCC youth has put together a short and compelling documentary about their lives in Koreatown. The film will be screened at the concert hall and the youth will be on hand to take a bow.  Tickets and sponsorships are available now. Please contact Arianna Parsons, special event coordinator, at (213) 365-7400, ext. 239 for more information.

The program is funded by the United Way and is in partnership of KYCC and the API Small Business Program. Workshop topics include business planning, marketing, taxes and record keeping, financial literacy and access to capital. The popular and widely successful seminars will take place on Thursday evenings throughout the month at KYCC’s main office. Health Fair For All

Youth Venture, one of KYCC’s many successful youth groups, will be holding a health fair in Los Angeles from 1 to 4 p.m. on June 9. The Youth Venture program is comprised of a team of advocates trained and mobilized to raise awareness about sexually transmitted diseases. By organizing events and workshops, Youth Venture interns take their creativity and passion to outreach to their peers and make an effective change in the community. There will be informational booths hosted by hospitals, acupuncturists, KYCC’s Mental Health Unit, and, of course, Youth Venture team members themselves. Food and entertainment will be provided. For more information, contact Shonte Thomas at (213) 365-7400, ext. 127.
