Korean American Community Services will celebrate its 35th year as the oldest, largest and most comprehensive social service provider in the Midwest, dedicated to meeting the needs of Korean Americans. The benefit dinner gala will take place at the beautiful Chicago Botanic Garden.

JUNE 9

UCLA Asian American Studies Center will present a conference discussing Korean American studies that will commemorate the 1992 Los Angeles riots and discuss the response to the recent Virginia Tech tragedy.

Conference will be held in the Viewpoint conference room in the Ackerman Student Union from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference is free, but attendees should pre-register for a free lunch. Parking in Lot 6 is $8. To register, e-mail aascrsvp@aasc.ucla.edu or call (310) 825-2974.

A lecture on Korean cooking will be followed the following week by a cooking demonstration and tasting with Chef Jayne E. Chang.

The New York Pride Parade, sponsored by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, is an opportunity for those wanting to show their solidarity for fair representation of LGBT people.

Those who want to march with GLAAD should meet at the corner of 5th Avenue and 52nd Street at 8:30 a.m. Everyone marching with GLAAD will receive a T-shirt.
