OPENS DEC. 16

“Masterpiece of Buddhist Art: The Works of Korean Living Treasure Master Jin Hyung Lee” is the debut of Lee’s critically acclaimed artwork outside of Asia. The exhibit will feature more than 30 bronze and wood statues gilded in 24-carat gold of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and monks, as well as ritual implements. All the work in the exhibition will be available for purchase.

Exhibit runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Silk Roads Gallery, 145 N. La Brea Ave., Suite C. Admission is free.

DEC. 16

The eighth annual benefit concert for Sejong, a top-notch string orchestra, will feature today’s leading young soloists from eight different countries. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will be honored during the event emceed by CNN newscaster Paula Zahn.

DEC. 19

The Asia Society and Museum will host a screening of South Korean director Lee Chang-dong’s latest feature film, “Secret Sunshine.” The screening will be followed by a discussion and reception with the director, Richard Pena of Lincoln Center Film Society, and moderator Helen Hyung-In Koh of the Asia Society.

The Asian Chefs Association will host the Chefs Without Borders Christmas Food Drive, an annual event where volunteers and chefs gather together to contribute their time and culinary expertise in preparing gourmet Asian Fusion Turkey meals for the needy and homeless during the holiday season.

The White House Ellipse Visitor Pavilion features lighted trees from each state and territory, a nativity scene, live reindeer, a burning yule log and choral concerts.
