Assistant Program Coordinator Lauren Seo.

New Assistant Program Coordinator

KAM is proud to announce the addition of a talented new member to its staff. Lauren H. Seo has joined the museum as the assistant program coordinator. Seo has studied both at Seoul National University and The School of the Art Institute of  Chicago. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Her art has been exhibited and has won competition awards. When asked about her aims she replied:

“A lesson on how to connect the eye to heart and mind: What I would like to achieve from working as an assistant program coordinator at the Korean American Museum is to assist the program coordinator Yujin Lim in developing and implementing public programs with themes related to the museum exhibits on Korean American culture. I would like to seek to enhance the understanding and appreciation of Koreans and our culture through exhibitions and public programming, informed by interdisciplinary approaches and the perspectives of the culture represented.”

KAM is looking forward to working with this talented young staff member.

LA KOREATOWN: Celebration of Continuity And Change

LA KOREATOWN charts the history of Korean immigration to Los Angeles beginning in 1904, telling the story of a community virtually unknown for over 50 years.  Even many Korean Americans living in Los Angeles believe that the birth of this community took place in the 1970s.

Our exhibit hopes to share the many hardships faced by these pioneers, through their rises and falls as a community, to their establishment as essential members of the City of Los Angeles.

Please contact the museum if you are interested in scheduling a tour.
