KACF receives $100,000 challenge grant from anonymous donor

KACF received a challenge grant from a donor who will match up to $100,000 of what KACF raises through other supporters through the end of February 2006.

Only private donations will be matched, and all proceeds must be used to fund KACF’s grants to the social service organizations it supports, which include programs that benefit the elderly, handicapped, women and children.

“As an organization that is less than 3 years old, we are humbled by and deeply appreciative of the significance of this grant, both in the size of the grant as well as the vote of confidence it represents in what KACF has accomplished and where we are headed,” said KACF President Sonny Whang.

“The board of directors has already risen to the challenge and in two weeks raised over $35,000 in additional pledges toward this matching grant. While all of us at KACF will continue to work hard to finish the matching raise, we invite everyone to be a part of this transformational grant by participating at whatever level you can.”

To support KACF, visit our Web site at www.kacfny.org and make an online contribution, or send a check to our mailing address. Remember that any donation you make will be doubled. There has never been a better time for you to demonstrate your support of KACF and to help the Korean American community and beyond.

The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, was motivated to challenge fellow Korean Americans to join together to create a new culture of philanthropy among Korean Americans.
