Women Make The World Go Round

Women’s Roundtable

The first ever, KAPS Women’s Roundtable discussion was held on Sept. 20 at the Adolph Law Group Office in downtown Seattle. Lead by Diana Young and Soojin Kim of the Mentorship Committee, the Roundtable discussion was to encourage Korean American career women to talk about the issues they face in the workplace, such as stereotypes, sexual bias and cultural differences. The women involved in the discussion found that they had many things in common and were able to speak freely about the male-dominated world they work in. A second Roundtable is in the works and may include men.

Garden Benefit

Annual KCCC fundraiser

The Consul General of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Community Counseling Center hosted the annual KCCC fundraiser on Sept. 24 at the home of the Consul General in Woodway, Wash. The garden party allowed community leaders and officials to bask in the late summer sun, while enjoying the view of Edmonds beach. Around 300 guests were present, including a dozen KAPS members who were available to lend a helping hand to an organization that does a tremendous amount of work to assist the elderly, low-income and youth.

Cast Your Vote

KAPS is already wrapping up the year 2005 and working hard to kick start the new year. For the past two years, President Janette Kwon has led the organization with passion and strong leadership and there is no doubt, KAPS has taken a great step forward with her. Now, it is time for KAPS to find our next leader who can continue the work! The annual election meeting is tentatively set for Nov. 18 at a soon to be determined location. If anyone is interested in getting involved with KAPS, they are encouraged to contact KAPS or log on to www.seattlekaps.org for more information.

Meet And Greet

KAPS held a general meeting on Sept. 23 at Toi Restaurant in downtown Seattle. Around 50 new and old members went over the last nine months of KAPS activities and discussed plans that will take place throughout the rest of the year. KAPS will continue to host Happy Hour every second Friday of the month, with the location to be determined. Special events such as wine tasting, and a New Year’s party are in the works.
