We Got Game

KABA’s night out with the Clippers

On Oct. 12, the Los Angeles Clippers opened its 2005-06 season by playing against the Dallas Mavericks in their first preseason game at the Staples Center. Approximately 70 members, friends and guests of KABA came out to enjoy the great game, great company and great food and drinks. And all this for a nominal cost, as KABA was able to provide tickets to its members at a discounted price of $5! The Clippers have added some talented new players this year and hope to be a contending team in the Western Conference of the NBA. And if their game against the Mavericks is any indication, the Clippers should do very well considering they beat the Mavericks with a final score of 95 to 80. KABA is planning another outing to a Clippers game, so please look out for more information.

Estate Of Affairs

Successful estate planning seminar

KABA held another successful community service event on Oct. 13. KABA member Youngsun Sunny Park of Lim, Ruger & Kim, LLP and KABA Board member Vivian Lee of Holland + Knight conducted a seminar with Korean Americans and addressed the often-ignored need for tax-efficient estate planning. Approximately 40 members of the community attended this event held at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. Issues touched upon dealt with tax consequences and other differences between wills, living trusts, permanent trusts, and passing without a will. The seminar was attended largely by members of the baby-boomer generation who are making estate-planning decisions for the first time.
