An intrinsic part of a little girl’s childhood involves countless hours spent combing a Barbie’s hair, dressing her up and creating make-believe situations. And now KA girls are no longer stuck with a busty blond who looks nothing like us to do so!
They can play with a Barbie that’s not wearing some “Gone With the Wind”-era gown or dressed as an astronaut, but what I wore on my 7th birthday! Resplendent in hanbok and dark hair (as well as what appears to be double eyelids, which many Korean women in the real world are adopting), the Princess of the Korean Court Barbie Doll was introduced by Mattel earlier this year, as part of the Dolls of the World, Princess Collection.
But without a Korean “Ken,” the boys will have to witness yet another Korean girl attached to some dopey, buffed-out white guy.
