As the outgoing SCKCSA president for the 2004-2005 school year, I would like to congratulate the school presidents and their staff for completing another successful school year. Congratulations to all presidents who graduated this year and I wish you guys the best of luck in all your future endeavors. I hope your experiences with your Korean student organizations and with SCKCSA will stay with you and help you in the future. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this year what it was, a truly memorable year for all of us. Thanks to the SCKCSA staff who volunteered so much of their valuable time. Even though we all come from different schools, let SCKCSA be the one factor that keeps us unified as friends.

Our New President

Next year looks to be another promising year with our new president, Jaysn Kim from UCLA. Jaysn has served SCKCSA this past year as an event coordinator, and has been actively involved in UCLA KSA and LiNK (Liberation in North Korea). He displayed a great show of leadership as he helped plan and carry out some of the most important events of SCKCSA this past year. His passion and commitment to the Korean American community has earned him a seat as the new president of SCKCSA. His vision for a more empowered student voice and a more unified student body will present some challenges that he will face head-on next year. Jaysn has many of the characteristics it takes to be a great leader and as the year approaches he will strive to take SCKCSA to new heights.

Saying Goodbye To Another Year

On June 17, SCKCSA hosted its annual end-of-the-year banquet at the Dragon Restaurant in Los Angeles. The night consisted of dinner, a slideshow, an awards ceremony, a special video, a DVD yearbook and a special candlelight ceremony. Certificates were awarded to outgoing school presidents as well as SCKCSA staff members to honor their hard work and dedication throughout the year. These included certificates from the offices of Mayor James Hahn, Senator Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein. Each attendee also received a DVD yearbook containing slideshows of photographs taken throughout the year.
