Ben On Board

KAFSC welcomes its new chairman of the board, Nara Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Hong. In 1998, Nara Bank made history when it became the first Korean American bank to have its stock listed with NASDAQ. Previously, Hong served as president and chief executive officer of Hanmi Bank, the first Korean American community bank founded by Korean American business leaders in Los Angeles.

Throughout his career, Hong has been active in community organizations, including KAFSC, Korean American Coalition, Korean American Museum, KYCC and the Boy Scouts of America. His passion for strengthening family bonds has brought him to KAFSC, and he hopes to see more generations of happy and united families.

Welcome Julia Kim

Julia Kim has recently joined KAFSC as a child-care food program representative. She graduated from the University of California, Davis with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in human development. For the past five years, Kim has volunteered in the nonprofit sector, serving various needs in the Korean community in Sacramento, Calif. She gained a tremendous learning experience and felt a strong desire to move to Los Angeles to be a part of the larger Korean American population.

On The Money

This March, KAFSC will offer programming for youth to learn about banking, finance, financial decision making and money management. If you are interested, contact Kate Chun at (213) 202-6900.
