KAC Los Angeles invites you to our 22nd annual Awards Gala, “Blueprint of an Empowered Community,” which will be held on Friday, April 29, at the California Science Center. This gala is a major fundraising event that serves as the platform for KAC-LA’s ongoing efforts to highlight its accomplishments, and expand key programs that continue to address community needs. With distinguished guests and elected officials, the gala will also serve as a welcome reception for the second KAC National Political Forum. We hope you can join us in making this important event a continued success. For tickets, sponsorships or advertisement opportunities, please contact Juliet Lee at (213) 365.5999, ext. 106, or juliet@kacla.org.

Dallas Is Official!

KAC has seen a continuing trend in growth, excitement and support for our organization. Part of that trend can be seen with the establishment of KAC’s newest chapter in Dallas/Fort Worth. Having celebrated its official charter night on Aug. 30, 2004, KAC-DFW was able to attend the KAC National Convention in September 2004 to be officially recognized as the latest addition to the KAC family. At the convention, KAC-DFW had the opportunity to meet with many members of KAC from around the nation, as well as distinguished members of the Korean American community.

With support from numerous local and national organizations, KAC-DFW expects to continue the tradition and work started by the great founders of KAC. It already has been quick to undertake many great initiatives to assist the Korean American community in Dallas. Having held voter registration drives, provided transportation to the polls, conducted numerous seminars and worked with the City of Dallas to improve the Korean business district, KAC-DFW’s next project is a spring forum, which will focus on race relations between minority groups in the Dallas/Ft. Worth areas.

In addition, KAC-DFW is looking forward to the KAC Political Forum, which will be held in Los Angeles on April 28-30. KAC has been working hard to reach out and coordinate with Korean American politicians that have been elected or appointed, as well as Korean Americans who have run for office or who intend to seek office. In addition, the political forum will reach out to staff members of elected and appointed officials, political consultants and political science professors and researchers.

The conference will provide a great opportunity to network and share ideas, while at the same time learn about the great strides made by Korean Americans nationwide. An exciting opportunity for all KAC chapters, we will all participate in this event to show solidarity, strength and support for the individuals who are making a difference and blazing a pathway for other Korean Americans to follow. It is through their hard work, their willingness to mentor and their ability to persevere that Korean Americans will continue to come together and make progress toward our ultimate vision of having a lasting and powerful voice wherever our paths may lead us.
