Nepal is a nation of contrasts, a blend of unlikely textures and images.
The pristine Himalayas loom over squalid streets, and delicate temples provide the background for bloody political conflicts. Nepal is still one of the poorest nations in the world, but it is also among the most beautiful.
I journeyed to Nepal to volunteer at Blessed Children’s Home, a Christian orphanage.
My camera revealed just how remarkable this orphanage is.
The children receive shelter, meals and a K-12 education — simple luxuries that few Nepalese can afford.
In a nation as destitute as Nepal, positive change doesn’t come easily.
But here, in this small orphanage, the idea was never an obstacle.
As a photojournalist, these are the stories I look for.
Stories that prove that change can happen.
And should happen.
