I’m not sure if many of you have a to-do list. But I do. It’s the list of things to do during my lifetime before the inevitable happens, like when I’m suddenly reincarnated as a dog or possibly as Voltron (fingers crossed!). I am proud to say I finally crossed one thing off my list: skydiving. This was not a planned adventure. Well, not a planned adventure by my standards. The way I plan things is by doing mounds of research and choosing the cheapest option, so I’m kinda glad I didn’t plan this.

This all happened on a Friday night when I went out to celebrate my friend Chris’ 30th birthday. My brother accidentally says to him “Dude, I’m not sure about skydiving this Sunday.” And all of a sudden, I’m on top of Chris enthusiastically asking him, “WHAT?! WHEN?! WHERE?! CAN I COME?!” And of course he says yes, but with the warning: “You can only come if you jump.” So what was meant to be my brother, Chris and Andy’s manly adventure became my brother, Chris, Andy, Nicole and my giddy adventure.

Let me tell you, IT WAS AMAZING! My tandem instructor Willie made a lovely joke in the air while we were gracefully falling from the sky, “Yeah, so, I’m gonna unhook you now.” My response: “ARE YOU BLEEPING KIDDING ME? THIS IS NOT BLEEPING FUNNY! I WILL KILL YOU! I SWEAR I WILL.” He neglected to mention that he was only unhooking the bottom bit of our straps so we can land. That was the only time I was scared.

Here is a recap of the highlights of the day:

1) My tandem instructor doing scenes from “Point Break” while we were parachuting

3) Me phoning my dad:

Me: Appa! Guess what I’m doing?”

Dad: What?

Me: I’m going skydiving!

Dad: OK, make sure you wrote your will, and make sure you leave everything to your mom and me.

After jump:

Me: Appa! I did it! It was amazing!

Dad: Did your brother go?

Me: Yes, he’s landing right now!

Dad: Did he pee and cry?

4) Watching my brother land with a stuffed panda bear

5) Knowing that I’m braver than my brother
