Like Van Gogh and Munch before him, art mastermind David Choe is crazy. But that’s what makes him fascinating. Now, the complexities of this law-breakin’, near-schizophrenic street painter are unveiled through “Dirty Hands: The Art & Crimes of David Choe,” a film by director Harry Kim.
“As a ‘hood kid, David was obsessed with travel, escape, art, banging drums and crime,” says Kim, who assembled the film using eight years of footage. “His charisma and energy to plot and scheme was contagious.”
“Dirty Hands” follows Choe, 31, as he hitchhikes his way around the globe, lands himself in a Tokyo prison cell and resurfaces with a radically religious agenda. Check www.dirtyhandsmovie.com for upcoming screening dates.
