Through the Readiness for School Program, KAFSC helps demystify the school enrollment process for Korean-speaking parents by providing educational workshops in Korean. On Dec. 20, KAFSC held a school enrollment and kindergarten preparedness workshop.

The school enrollment procedure workshop was conducted by Charles H. Kim principal, Sandra Kim. She introduced the overall system to the parents so that it is not so overwhelming for them to grasp, and then carefully went over each step necessary to enrolling a child in school. She also informed parents about the public school system, helping them understand what to expect, how to prepare for enrollment, parent teacher conferences, vaccinations and other basic health requirements.

Lindsay Lee, a Wilton Elementary School teacher, was invited to speak and share how kindergarten classes are usually taught and carried out. In conjunction with the first workshop that assisted parents with understanding where parents and their children fit into the system and how to select appropriate schools, this workshop provided parents with practical steps to prepare their children for an actual classroom experience.
