Jin Kim, KCCD executive director, speaking at last year’s homeownership fair.

KCCD will be hosting its 7th annual homeownership fair on July 28 at Wilshire United Methodist Church. This popular fair offers community members the opportunity to be smart buyers by learning about the various resources that are available, including low-interest loans and interest- and payment-free down payment assistance programs. We’ll also explain how to avoid some of the common pitfalls in purchasing a home.

Last year, more than 1,000 participants turned out for the event. Since 2003, KCCD Home Counseling Agency (KCCDHCA) has trained more than 3,500 potential homebuyers through our various events including our 12-hour home buyer education seminars, one-on-one counseling sessions and the homeownership fairs. We have helped new homebuyers with more than $165,000 in down payment assistance.

KCCD President Hyepin Im stated, “Many people believe that you have to be poor to benefit from the down payment assistance programs and others believe their income is too low to even dream of homeownership. Through this homeownership fair, we hope to dispel these myths and help individuals achieve their homeownership dream.”
