In high school, he was known as “Lion Kim” for hinting of his ambition to one day outclass Tiger Woods on the golf course. And in 2007, he could very well get the chance to match up with the world’s No. 1 golfer. Anthony Kim, just 21, is one of the youngest players on the PGA Tour after earning his tour card last December by breezing through all three stages of Q-school with relative ease. And earlier last year, he competed in the Valero Texas Open and the Southern Farm Bureau Classic, taking second and 16th, respectively, and collecting $338,067.
Kim earned All-American honors in his first two seasons at the University of Oklahoma. He left school as a junior reportedly because of differences with the coach. The four-time American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) All-American is known for his impressive drives, which average 330 yards, and ESPN and the Los Angeles Times have dubbed him one of golf’s most promising young stars.
Time will tell if this lion’s bite is as big as his roar.
