Feldman talks about her shoes with shoppers at the KACF fundraising event.

A Shoe-sational Affair

Organization shows its appreciation in ultimate style

Ø        By Kimberly Won

On March 8, KACF hosted a Patrons Appreciation Event to express its appreciation to its many supporters. The event was sponsored by world-renowned shoe designer Beverly Feldman.

The event was held at the posh Beverly Feldman boutique on Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan. The store was closed to the public for the evening’s event. Guests sipped wine and champagne while enjoying a special discount on the designer’s new Spring 2007 collection and received shoe advice from the expert staff and Feldman herself. A portion of the evening’s sales proceeds directly benefited KACF and its grantee organizations.

At the event, KACF Executive Director Bomsinae Kim and Steering Committee co-chair Gina Chon thanked Feldman for graciously sponsoring the event. Feldman remarked that the Asian community has been a special source of inspiration and added that this was her way to express appreciation to her own patrons, especially in light of the expanding presence of her product line in Asia.

The Beverly Feldman brand has long enjoyed a wide customer base among Asians both domestically and internationally, particularly in regions such as Hong Kong and Singapore. The designer’s surprise announcement offering a lifetime discount to guests that buy shoes that evening added to the last-minute shopping frenzy.

In between the hors d’oeuvres and shopping, first-time guests were eager to sign up to volunteer and support KACF. Jacob Cho from South Pole USA commented that he enjoyed the opportunity to meet and network with other KACF supporters.

KACF held a raffle at the end of the night with lucky winners walking away with a signature leather tote handbag and a gift certificate for any pair of shoes in the store.
