The Kims of Comedy will appear Saturday, May 12 at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, located at 3790 Wilshire Blvd. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at (213) 388-1400.
UCLA’s Hanoolim will perform its annual show, Korean Culture Night, one of the largest student-run productions on campus. This year’s production is called “The Forgotten War,” and will portray the Korean War from the KA perspective. Various artforms, including traditional drumming and fan dances and modern dance have been choreographed specifically for this show. There will also be interviews of war survivors played, as well as a play and spoken word performances.

New York University and Columbia University present “Breaking the Silence,” an all-day student conference designed to inspire young Asian Americans to learn, grow, and explore of issues in race and identity. social change.

Queens Theatre in the Park presents a week-long festival to commemorate Asian Pacific American Heritage month.
The festival features traditional artists and programming, including the Children’s Orchestra Society, the American debut of Korean choreographer Hwang Mi-Sook and the Pasha Dance Company, spoken word by Asian American poets Ishle Park and Taiyo Na, a screening of “The Grace Lee Project,” violinist Joo Yong Oh, 10-year old piano prodigy Niu Niu, Slant performance group, and more.

Korean American filmmakers are on the rise and some of the most talented ones will be screening at the distinguished Tribeca Film Festival. Look for Michael Kang’s “West 32nd,” Jieho Lee’s “The Air I Breathe” and Andrew Oh’s “Illegal” at the festival that was co-created by Robert De Niro in 2002 in response to the attacks on the World Trade Center.
