Benefit concert to feature the Ahn Trio
KACF is pleased to announce its second annual joint benefit concert with the internationally acclaimed string ensemble, International Sejong Soloists (ISS), on Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Knitting Factory in New York City. This year’s event follows the hugely successful benefit concert held in May 2004.
This concert will feature the acclaimed Ahn Trio and a range of music, from modern classical to jazz and funk music accompanied by percussionists, and will demonstrate how Korean culture can be both classical and innovative.
SuChin Pak, a featured news anchor on MTV and well-known Korean American celebrity, will emcee the concert. A VIP reception hosted before and after the concert will give sponsors an opportunity to mingle with the Ahn Trio and other Korean community leaders. There will also be a raffle where sponsors can donate their services or products, and will also include artwork by installation and sculpture artist Hyungsub Shin.
Since its inception, KACF has played a critical role in the community, as the agent of community building and the bridge among all generations of Korean American community. Through this annual event, we hope to contribute to raising more awareness and funding for KACF.
There will be two shows performed by the Ahn Trio, with an autograph-signing session following the afternoon performance and an after-show party after the evening performance.

About the Ahn Trio
The Ahn Trio’s dynamic and nuanced performances have earned it a place as one of the world’s innovative piano trios. Sisters Maria, Lucia and Angella are redefining the art and architecture of chamber music, with commissions from composers as diverse as Kenji Bunch, minimalist composer Michael Nyman, and Academy-Award winning composer Maurice Jarre. The Ahn Trio continually breaks away from tradition, most recently for their tours with the David Parsons Dance Company, in which both trio and dancers share the stage in a unique duet of image and sound. The sisters have also successfully fused fashion and classical music, with appearances in GQ, Vogue, and advertisements for the Gap. They were named three of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by People Magazine. The Ahn Trio is in high demand, performing and leading master classes and workshops across the United States and around the world. Wherever the Ahn sisters go, they share their collaborative spirit and ever-evolving vision of music.
