Visual Communications celebrates its 35th anniversary at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre with a program that will combine film and live performance.

Sept. 23-25 DENVER

The Korean American Coalition presents its third annual national convention, and the theme this year is “Building Bridges for Tomorrow.” Join the nonprofit as its members and affiliates discuss and plan how it can better represent the disconnected Korean American community.

At the Hyatt Regency Tech Center (located at 7800 E. Tufts Ave.). Registration is $225; $50 for students. For more information, visit www.kacco.org, or contact Ken Song at (303) 941-7664 or kk7664@yahoo.com.

Sept. 27 LOS ANGELES

The Dodgers celebrate Korean American Community Night as the season nears its close. But will there be another reason to celebrate when the Blue Crew takes the field against the Arizona Diamondbacks; will the Dodgers still be in a tight divisional race in the weak National League West?

Fans can receive half-price tickets on the Reserve level. For more information, call (866) DODGERS.

Sept. 29 LOS ANGELES

The 35th anniversary celebration for Visual Communications, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting intercultural understanding through the media arts, will pair groundbreaking moving images of Asian Pacific America with live performances, climaxing with the VC Digital Slam, a micro-festival of 30-second digital videos by leading APA filmmakers. Making special appearances will be actors John Cho and Keiko Agena.

At the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre (located at 2580 Cahuenga Bl. East, just off the 101 Freeway near the Hollywood Bowl). Tickets are $15; $12 for students and VC members. For more information, call VC at (213) 680-4462 or visit www.vconline.org. To buy tickets, visit www.fordamphitheatre.org.

THROUGH Oct. 2 LOS ANGELES

East West Players opens its 40th season of theater that gives voice to the Asian Pacific American experience with “Stew Rice,” a play centered around three young men in Hawaii and their female counterparts by Edward Sakamoto.

Performances are in the David Henry Hwang Theater at the Union Center for the Arts (located in Little Tokyo at 120 Judge John Aiso St.). Tickets are $35 in the orchestra and $30 in the balcony, and can be purchased by calling (213) 625-7000 or visiting www.eastwestplayers.org.
