OCT. 28 NATIONWIDE

OCT. 29 to NOV. 27 BURBANK, CALIF.

Lodestone Theatre Ensemble kicks off its sixth season of edgy works that bridge communities with the world premiere of “American Monsters 2.” This newest incarnation continues the darkly humorous examination of the underbelly of American culture started in “American Monsters” through five original one-act plays loosely based on Grimm’s fairy tales. Each of these adaptations, written by Corinne Chooey, Isaac Ho, Angela Kang, Oanh Ly and Judy Soo Hoo, lifts and twists an original dark element from the classic morality tales.

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m., at the GTC Burbank theater (1111-B W. Olive Ave., Burbank, CA 91506). Tickets are $15; $13 for students and seniors. For more information, call the Lodestone Theatre Ensemble hotline at (323) 993-7245 or visit www.lodestonetheatre.org.

Starring in Lodestone Theatre Ensemble’s world premiere of “American Monsters 2” are Jennie Yee, David Lee and Freda Foh Shen (from left to right), as well as Peggy Ahn, Feodor Chin, Michael Kuya, Dom Magwili, and Linda Shing.
