The KYCC Water Conservation Team
Saving Water For Almost 10 Years!
Since the mid-1990’s, KYCC’s Environmental Services Unit has teamed up with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) to provide free water conservation devices to Los Angeles residents. Through LADWP’s Ultra-Low-Flush Toilet Program, KYCC provides new ultra-low-flush toilets, showerheads and aerators to LADWP residential customers in exchange for non-water saving fixtures. These devices are provided and installed, free of charge, by KYCC for qualifying LADWP residential customers, including single-family homes, townhouses, condominiums, duplexes, mobile homes and apartments.
The City of Los Angeles uses about 215 billion gallons of water annually, with the average Angeleno using more than 155 gallons daily. Toilets are the largest water consumers inside the home.
Retrofitting older toilets for low-flush toilets not only helps conserve water, but saves you money too. From an environmental standpoint, installation of water efficient devices can reduce water usage by as much as 35 percent. From an economic perspective, single-family homes will save an average of $35 per year and multi-family homes will save an average of $60 each year for every new low-flush toilet installed.
To see if your property is eligible, call KYCC’s Environmental Services Unit at (213) 743-8750. If your property is eligible, an appointment can be made for an experienced installer to install toilets, showerheads and aerators — all free of charge!
Please keep in mind that water is one of our greatest natural resources. It meets our daily needs for drinking, cooking, cleaning, bathing and recreation. Water in California, however, is very limited. By doing your part and conserving water whenever you can, Los Angeles County residents can make a huge difference in protecting this resource for future generations to come.
