Volunteer Round Up
KACF welcomes new volunteers and thanks old ones at a kickoff event

On May 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., KACF held a kickoff event for its volunteers at the Korea Society in New York. Hosted by the KACF steering committee, the event was a follow-up to the volunteer recruiting effort conducted at the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA) festival. At the festival, KACF signed up those interested in volunteering with the Korean American community, and invited people to come to its volunteer event. This was an effort that exemplified how KACF not only raises funds for its grant program, but also calls on people to become more aware of their community through active participation.

The KACF board of directors, advisory board and officers were all present at this event, which included a wine and cheese social hour and a brief presentation on KACF and its new volunteer steering committee initiative. Committee leads and the chair of the steering committee talked about different areas in KACF’s mission that needed volunteers, and at the end of the night, attendees were given the opportunity to sign up for various tasks.
